RTZ Audio is small private business owned by Bob Starr in Alpharetta Georgia just minutes North of Atlanta. Around 1997 we began building upgrade reproduce and record electronics for Ampex studio recorders. Our acclaimed 440/1200 audio electronics are still in use by professional recording and mastering facilities. During this same time period we also introduced our first mic preamp, the Model 9740G, in limited production. The 9740 was based on a classic RCA discrete design and featured Jensen input and output transformers.

Over the years Rick Chinn has worked quietly in the background and contributed engineering and design talents to nearly all RTZ products since the beginning. Rick is also known for his mixing and engineering skills. In 1997 Rick left Mackie after designing the SR24.4 and SR40.8 mixing consoles and is well known in the world of audio. Rick played a major role in the design of the Ampex Rev-B cards and our new Model 9762 Dual Combo preamplifier. Rick also served as the AES Pacific NW Section Chair from 2002-2003.

The 9762 Dual-Combo is our new flagship unit that continues our tradition and love of classic analog design. Great passion, attention to detail, and a life long love of audio motivated development of the 9762. The 9762 leverages decades of component and transformer design improvements. As a result, the 9762 delivers maximum soul that only a true Class-A transformer based design can provide.
