MODEL 9762 DUAL-COMBO MICROPHONE PREAMPLIFER

SECOND PRODUCTION ROUND UNITS NOW AVAILABLE!!!

New units from the second major production round are finally starting to trickle out! Due to the high cost of parts, materials and many hours of labor required for assembly/testing, we can only provide these units on a limited production basis. Units will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis as we ramp up our production and parts ordering. The manufacture and build cost of the 9762 requires serious commitment and dedication to make these legendary units available. We're confident that everything about the 9762: sonics, craftsmanship, and heavy duty build quality puts it squarely in the company of the best pro-audio gear on the planet, regardless of when it was built. If you have any questions or wish to place an order, please contact us directly for availability and delivery details. Thanks for your interest in the 9762!

MODEL 9762 OVERVIEW

The Model 9762 Dual Combo is designed to emulate vintage 1970's era large frame consoles (i.e. Neve™ 1073/1272 Series) yet provide a more open and detailed sound by combining modern components with superior construction. We set out to take this design to the next level right from the very start and leveraged decades of component and transformer design improvements in the process. Every detail was considered and pored over during development of this unit - the 9762 is NOT just another knock off unit! As a result, the 9762 provides less "darkness" but retains the giant Class-A transformer driven sound the vintage units are known for. Listen to the 9762 and hear why the details really do make a difference!

The 9762 uses a super high quality input transformer, manufactured by Lars Lundahl of Sweden, with excellent sonic properties that is considered by many to be one of the world’s finest input transformers. The preamp gain blocks and structure have been specifically optimized to match the input transformer characteristics as closely as possible. These refinements give the 9762 classic super fat sounds with the benefit of increased high-end openness and clarity.

STANDARD FEATURES

Dual gain block Neve style structure with up to 75db overall gain.

Fully balanced transformer I/O's (+27dbu max output).

Low noise internal power supply fully mu-metal shielded.

Selectable High/Low-Z input impedance and output termination.

Independent regulation and fuse protection per channel.

High reliability gold contact relays used for all signal routing.

Super Hi-Z FET instrument DI input (switch selectable).

All discrete components in the signal path - no SMD parts.

The standard unit contains two channels of high gain amplification capable of providing up to 75 dB of gain. All XLR input and output connectors are transformer balanced and isolated. Unbalanced line output connectors and direct input (DI) instrument connectors are also provided. Standard features include +48V Phantom power, polarity (phase) reverse, DI source select, microphone impedance select and output termination select switching. All transformers are fully enclosed by mu-metal shields for maximum isolation, reduced magnetic interference, and reduced sensitivity to external fields.

The enclosure and faceplate are made of heavy gauge laser cut steel for extra strength and maximum shielding. Miniature sealed gold contact relays are used for all audio switching functions and increased reliability. A high impedance FET buffer stage is used in the instrument direct input (DI) stage. The FET input buffer stage serves as a high impedance conversion stage designed to prevent loading of instrument pickups. The DI switch allows manual selection of the DI or microphone input source and also serves as a mute switch when only one input is in use.

The internal power supply uses a custom low-noise audio grade toroid supply transformer specifically designed for our unit. This supply transformer is fully enclosed by a mu-metal shield with additional shielding provided by the all steel enclosure supply area. Superior shielding results in minimal hum and magnetic interference around sensitive audio transformers. The 9762 goes the extra mile where others choose to simply ignore or overlook shielding requirements.

The 9762 may be configured for either 115V or 230V (50/60 Hz) operation via the rear panel power entry module. Each preamplifier circuit board contains onboard regulation, filtering and a thermal fuse. Each channel operates completely independently of the other channel. All printed circuit boards are full ground plane type designs for improved stability and shielding.

And finally, the 9762 is backed with a full 5-Year limited warranty that guarantees our units to be free of material and workmanship defects for a period of five years!
